Yoga Teacher Trainings

Yoga teacher training is both profound and pragmatic. The experience will change you forever, and give you the tools to hold the space for that transformation in others. If you are considering enrolling in a program, look at the questions below and use them as a guide in your consideration.

 Questions to Ask Yourself:

  1. What physical style of Yoga has had the greatest influence on me? (i.e.: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Yin, Viniyoga, Iyengar, Sivananda, Restorative)
  2. What goal do I hope to accomplish by taking a training?
  3. What aspects of Yoga am I most interested in? (i.e.: History, Philosophy, Anatomy, Asana, Meditation, Pranayama, Chanting, Therapeutic Application)
  4. What are the characteristics of teachers that most inspire me?
  5. What strengths would I bring into a training program?
  6. What challenges might I anticipate?

When Looking at a Specific Program:

  1. Does the program teach a style of asana that I resonate with?
  2. Will completing this program facilitate my goals?
  3. Does the program offer instruction in the key areas I'm interested in?
  4. Do I resonate with the teaching staff of the program?
  5. Is the program affiliated with any regulating body?
  6. Does the layout of the program fit into my life?
  7. Can I commit to completing the program's homework, testing and practice requirements?
  8. Can I speak to graduates of the program about specific strengths and weaknesses in the training?
  9.  What kind of support is offered if challenges arise?
